The Test of Availability
(This post goes along with Leadership Level 1 - Personal Success.)
Today let’s talk about passing the first test of leadership: The Test of Availability. To be a part of something bigger than myself, I must pass this first test. The world is full of people who are so focused on themselves that the idea of serving others is very foreign to them. But God is constantly seeking those who will serve him by serving others. In John 21:17 Jesus tells Peter, “Feed my sheep.” So I must make a decision: I can continue to focus on myself or I can allow God to make room in my life for more of his plans.
By making myself available to God, I’m saying, ‘Here am I, Lord. Send me.’ Once you’ve surrendered to God’s plan for your life of leading, things will get interesting, and sometimes very quickly. Opportunities will start to come your way. People will want to connect with you. You may soon find yourself in a completely different season in life. Suddenly, it dawns on you: God really does have a plan for my life. Have you made yourself completely available to God, so that your leadership journey can become all it needs to be?
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
